Something personal about me

​My name is Lucy Oyubo. I was born in Busia, a small border town near Lake Victoria in Kenya. 
I have lived in Switzerland for several years. I spent my first years in Switzerland in Romanshorn, a small town on Lake Constance. The multi-cultural city of Basel  has been my home for 8  years. I love it here. What I fancy most is swimming in the Rhine River.
It brings back the sweet  memories of swimming in Lake Victoria and Lake Constance! 

I also like travelling. I count myself one of the luckiest people because since I have lived here, I have been able to visit many countries around the world. This has enabled me to discover countless cultures and it is something I appreciate very much.
WORK EXPERIENCE
  • 25 years as a language teacher  
  • 12 years as an interpreter / translator
  • 9 years as a court interpreter
  • 6 years as the managing director of the Lakeside English Centre in Romanshorn, Switzerland.
  • 5 years as a Founder and Manager of the "Hakuna Matata language Centre in Basel which has now been changed to Hakuna Matata Language, Translation and Cultural Exchange.

  • Bachelor (B.Ed) - Education
  • CAS Advanced Course Administrative and Judicial Interpreting Zurich University of Applied Sciences
  • CELTA (Certificate of English Language Teaching to Adults)
  • SVEB 1 Swiss Association for Adult Education
  • C2 Goethe's certificate 
  • Interpret Certificate for Intercultural Translation & Interpretation
